Port Forwarding on Nighthawk M1
Has anyone had luck with port forwarding on ATT wireless network. I have a panasonic security camera that I would like to monitor when not at home. I have done this before with ATT DSL but am not having luck with the wireless network. The camera uses a dynamic DNS which I am pretty certain is setup correctly.
I am first confused by the IP addresses that are being reported. The configuration page for the mobile router reports a 10.126.XXX.XXX address. When I run an IP check the address that is returned is 107.77.XXX.XXX. When I ping my specifc address from the dynamic DNS it reports a third address 107.77.XXX.XXX (first and second set of XXX are different). I am not certain why these are all different but I think it has something to do with ATT wireless network (I have read about double NAT).
Regardless of the address when I work with the port forwarding menu of the mobile router I am not having luck. Is there a specific port number that I should be using. I have got this to work using ports in the 50000 range in the past but nothing I am doing now seems to work?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi jbowlingknoxNG,
Can you please check with your ISP and see if their network supports port forwarding for your device?
Please let me know. :]

The ISP is ATT Mobile. I have contacted tech support twice and was told both times that they do. At the second contact I inquired if the IP was public at the request of Netgear support and ATT said that the address of the mobile router was indeed public. When I pressed ATT and port forwarding they told me to contact Netgear support.

Hi jbowlingknoxNG,
Reading your statement above it tells me that your WAN IP address is NAT'd and not a public WAN IP. Telstra in Australia do the same with their standard APN for mobile broadband. It is firewalled for security reasons and I assume ATT are doing the same. I know with Telstra we can call them up and ask for an APN to be provisioned on the SIM card which in fact assigns you a public WAN IP that works fine with Port Forwarding. I suggest contacting ATT and asking to speak with a manager who maybe able to advise if ATT have an APN which assigns a public WAN IP.
Kind Regards,
