We have a GSM7324 switch that we have been using for L2 switching. We have now turned on the routing function with two VLANs. The network mangement IP address was 10.100.100.162 VLAN 100 defau...

Dec 08, 2016Hi kiheiman,
Welcome to our community!
Looks like that the management IP segement is conflict with VLAN100 IP segement.
Could you please disable routing for VLAN100 or change the IP address for VLAN100, and try again.
Hope that it helps !

Not sure I understand the step of disabling routing for VLAN 100. We need routing enabled for VLAN 100 and VLAN 200. Are you saying that I need to change the default gateway IP address for VLAN 100? How would that help? I would still need an IP address in the 10.100.100.0 address space. In the initial configuration, we tried to add a second IP address (management IP) to the same subnet and both IPs stopped working.
Right now, the management interface is on VLAN 100 (10.100.100.0 subnet). We had to change the mangement IP to 1.1.1.1. With that config, we can get to the router on either VLAN default gateway:
VLAN 100 10.100.100.217
VLAN 200 10.100.200.217
All of our Netgear switches have management IPs in the range of 10.100.100.151 to 10.100.100.164. I would like to be able to put the router management IP back to 10.100.100.162.
Hope that helps.

Hi kiheiman,
Sorry, maybe I mistake your meaning.
There is two L3 routing VLAN, VLAN100 and VLAN200, and VLAN100 is management VLAN, VLAN200 is another L3 routing VLAN used for other service.
For VLAN100, IP address is 10.100.100.162/24, gateway is 10.100.100.217;
For VLAN200, IP address is 10.100.200.x/24, gateway is 10.100.200.217;
Am I undterstanding right?
And the problem is you cannot set VLAN100 IP address back to 10.100.100.162, right? What the IP address of VLAN100 now?
Could you please provide the configuration file of the Switch, we can analysis further more.
How do I send configure files from my Managed Switch to NETGEAR community moderators?
