Connect 2 switches together

We have 2 of these switches. One is our main switch and the other is connected by single mode fibre to another building. The switches are conencts and we have connectivity between devices on both switches but it's very slow - Both switches are basically factory settings, so no VLAN no anything really.

What could we look at to diagnose the speed or is there something we should have set

    Define very slow.

What kind of SFP (1G) resp. SFP+ (10G) fiber modules are in place?

      Hi there

      10G SFP+ LR - probably 300 metres

I'm seeing transfer speeds of about 5M but everythig connects and works just very slowly

Reads to me like a bad fiber link, poor splicing, bad fiber patch cables, probably non-compatible fiber connectors from the fiber infrastructure to the ptch to the SFP+ module.

10G SFP+ LR is not really any exact model - it's just some of the core tech data.

The M4300 models allow reading the fiber link and optics data - start with these:

        show fiber-ports optics
        show fiber-ports optics-diag
        show fiber-ports optics-eeprom
        show fiber-ports optics-info
