Expanding GS748TP Switch into another switch

Appears there is a lot of confusion, probably of what you -really- have in place, and what (and especially where) you are going to connect the new GS748Tv5.
Since you talk of not going to use stacking (impossible since the GS748Tv5 is not stackable at all, does not have stacking ports) some guess is your existing old switch might be a GS748TPS – Stackable Smart Gigabit Ethernet Switch with PoE. In case of using the predefined Stacking ports there, these ports must be configured away from Stacking mode to General Ethernet mode to connect the new switch.
Do you operate a single VLAN with a single IP subnet? That means you don't have to configure any tagging for now, too.
That's all I can say based on the obvious incomplete (or probably simply wrong) information provided.

-Kurt.

Hi Kurt,
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/gs748tp/
That is the original switch.

This is switch 2.
I just need to add more ports to the same subnet as 44 ports of the 48 are currently used. So I was hoping I could just go from the first switch to the GS748Tv5 and expand on it. adding an additional 48 ports.
I was hoping to go from port 47 on switch one with a VLAN of 100 and go to the second switch port 47 with VLAN 100 and still have accessibility to internet as switch 1 has a homerun to the router. Switch 1 has additional VLANs but 100 is the main one I am trying to set up on second switch. I have verified that the port I am using is only VLAN 100 as well.
I apologize for any misinformation. I am not all that great with switches.
Thanks for all your help!
