Sorry, I can't take away the burden of learning and understanding the burdens of SNMP - which differs in many aspects from Windows cmd for example.
Better start your SNMP experience with a simple Windows tool like the iReasoning MIB Browser for example.
Stick with SNMP v1 or v2 Community MIB in plain text.
While talking: Netgear does aparenty no longer maintain their private MIB (OIDs) 1.3.6.1.4.1.4526.nnnnnnn anymore. On this specific issue; I can't help with your API wish I'm afraid.
Worth a try on your older model and firmware anyway.
