GSM7224R small network
Hi all, I just bought an GSM7224R switch to create a small network in a building. The idea is to isolate different areas from eachother; customer free wifi, own home, CCTV IP Cameras/NVR system, ...

Hi June, all,
First thing I did was to search for threads, docu and info, but I could´t find good information, just some pics and bits.
Actually, I´ll try to configure the GSM7224R in a test place, trying to learn how things works, then in a few months I´ll move it to the end location.
Right now it is already connected. I just updated his firmware from stock v7.1 to last one from Netgear website v7.3.1.7. It has been successfully done.
Yesterday I was able to connect using the console port to change the default switch IP to 192.168.1.100 to be in same subnet as the router I am using here. By the way, this router (Sky consumer) is not VLAN capable, unfortunately.
At the same time, I already have connected few devices;
.- IP camera 192.168.1.128:8100 (fixed IP which I can change)
.- NVR 192.168.1.127:8200 (fixed IP which I can change)
.- this laptop
.- cable to the router
I am not sure but I guess DHCP is OFF in the switch and for sure is ON at the router.
Switch configuration is default, just different IP, so only VLAN1 is created.
Next step will be to create a second VLAN for the IP camera and NVR, and one more VLAN for the router, and trying to get it working.
As I can not find any example similar to this, I´ll keep this thread updated, step by step, to be usefull for more people.
I got a question.
If VLANs are created, with different subnets, I understand I have to enable DHCP in the switch.
How can I reach every device from internet?
I meant. Actually there is a table in the router and typing the public IP followed a specific port, I can reach every device, for example;
http://176.255.177.210:8200
Typing that anywhere in internet, I´ll reach my NVR.
But when VLANs enable, let´s say my NVR will be 10.10.20.100:8200 in VLAN20
What should I type then?
Thank you
Regards, Maximo.
