Hi Netgear Users and Administrators, I have a little problem with my M4300 GSM4352PS V1. There's possibility that image2 is broken. Device is actually booting from image2. On the console I see that can't boot from image and i see "ERROR: can't get kernel image". I supose that the image1 is a good conditional. Hello, I've tried the paperclip that usually works for my other switches. Tried 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 8 seconds, 15 seconds, 25 seconds over and over - still doesn't reset. I hooked up a usb to mini cable and connected to the mini console port which shows up in device manager as Silicon labs CP210x USB to uart (Com3) I try to attach using Com3 in Putty - no response- pressed enter many times I hooked up my old serial RS232 to USB to an RJ45 adapter - it shows up in device manager as Aten USB to serial Bridge (COM6) I try to attach using Com6 in Putty - no response- pressed enter many times I've done Extreme, Cisco, HP, Dell and Avaya switches but am scratching my head on the Netgear. Can you help a Netgear user try to get access to his M4300 switch?Solved85Views1like15CommentsAV VLAN uplink to public manage switch
Hi All: At our educational facility we are redesigning an existing 2 x room AV system with "cross-room" Audio Visual broadcast connectivity using Crestron Digital Media architechture Each room has a dedicated Crestron DMPS-4K-350-C + DMPS-4K-250-C units with with TV displays, Microphones and Camera's. We have a new Audio Visual private VLAN link between 2 x rooms using core Netgear AV Line switches being programmed for the Crestron Graphic User Interface control in each space. Netgear M4250-9G1F-PoE+ network switch (smaller room 1) + Netgear M4250-26G4F-PoE+ (GSM4230P (larger room 2) My question is for how we can securely manage the AV endpoints inside the private AV VLAN? Crestron virtual X-panel touch screen control is needed + two DMPS hardware units, Biamp audio processors; we need IP control into this new private AV-VLAN from our existing public managed Switch local subnet. I would like to create an ethernet patch uplink from the core Netgear M4250-26G4F-POE (same AV system rack as our Crestron Managed switch) into our local managed public subnet switch which is a Crestron CEN-SW-POE16 Any thoughts on the best way to configure this would be appreciated. We have 15 M4250 switches running our AV network. Recently, we realized two of those switches were assigned the same IP. Because of this, only one of the devices was showing on the Engage Dashboard. We did a hard reset on one of the switches (the one that was showing) so that we could assign it a new IP. Now the one switch that I reset will not show in Engage. I went through the Main UI to assign it a new IP address and when entering that IP into "Add Device" on Engage, I'm met with the message that the "device is already onboarded". How can I clear it from onboarding so I can set it up as a new device? Or at the very least, get it to show in Engage?99Views0likes4CommentsGSM4328S spuriously after powering up, shows power led amber on, and stucks
M4300 (GSM4328S) spuriously after powering up, shows power led amber on, and stucks. Need to disconnect and connect again power supply, and then works. I don't know if someone is experiencing this issue. Maybe is a hardware issue. We are using lots of those switches for several different projects in our company, and we are experiencing in the last purchased units (more than 20) this upsetting issue. We don't know how we can diagnose the problem. Anyone could help us?41Views0likes1CommentCreating and setting up a VLAN
Hi, I have a network 192.9.200.0/24. I need to access a device using 192.9.201.0/24 I am using a M4300-12X12F ProSAFE 12-port 10GBASE-T and 12-port 10G SFP+ with firmware 12.0.4.8. I could not create a VLAN with the GUI, the Switching -> VLAN Config -> Advanced "Add" button was not working. Any idea why? Instead, I used the CLI with (On Windows 10): telnet 192.9.200.217 enable vlan database vlan 100 I am stuck on assigning a 192.9.201.217 IP address to VLAN0100 and setting up the routing between default and VLAN0100. How do I do that, preferably with the GUI?57Views0likes1CommentM5300-52g slow start up when using v11 firmware
Hi During a deployment of a stack to replace an existing one, I ran into a problem. Instead of lift and shift of both units, the 52 port switch running v11 firmware (pre configured) was plugged into a live older switch (running v10). This then sent both switches into a tailspin and broke the configuration of both old and new hardware. The old stack has been restored, however I still need to replace with the 5300 stack. The new M5300 52g switch is showing some VERY strange behaviour even after factory reset and multiple firmware updates and factory resets. Initially after the incident, I had to force a reset using the CLI and to perform a hardware reset from there. Incidentally, all the ports apart from the USB, on the switch just weren't working or detecting any cables. Once I eventually got into the GUI, I could see that it was showing both elements of the v10 AND v11 firmware together. Having followed advice from within this forum, I have loaded v.10.0.0.53 to the switch. This then boots up fine and the ports on the front become live within 90 seconds. However, if I upgrade the same switch to v11.0.0.40 and reboot, It then takes 7 minutes before I can ping it and get access to the GUI. I'm simply not willing to rebuild and deploy this switch until I get this behaving as it was prior to the incident. Please note. I'm pinging the default private addressing 169.254.100.100 and I'm not worried about the config as it's going to need a fresh build. Old kit GSM7228PS and a GSM7352Sv2. Running v10.0.0.53 New kit M5300 52g and M5300-28g-PoE+. Desired firmware V11.0.0.40 I feel I have exhausted all my options and would welcome any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.36Views0likes0CommentsShare internet between two Vlans on a netgear GS724TV4
Hi So I been trying for altmost 2 days to set up my netgear GS724TV4, which is a managed layer3 switch, but does not have capability to create a DHCP server. I am running a webserver and email server, and would like to seperate this from my private network, in case of hacking. So I though I would make two Vlan, lets say vlan1 for private and vlan100 for the server. ISP fiber to my house -> deco X10 setup (internet Vlan id 101 - 802.1q tag) -> unmanaged layer3 switch that provides my netgear with 2 patch cabels in port12 and 13 I have attached a screenshot of my setup and here is some info: port 2 and 3 my private network. port 12 and 13 - Conntect to an unmanaged switch, where my internet patch-cable is connected. port 24 - my server Since I dont understand inter-routing my idea was to have 2 vlans, where vlan1 had port 1-12 untagged and vlan2 had 13-24 untagged, and both vlans would get internet via port 12 or 13. Could somebody tell me if and how to set this up? Help is greatly appriciated192Views0likes1Comment
