M4100-24G-POE+ (GSM7224P) support for Cat6/7 cables

Hi all,

The doc for this switch recommends to use cat5/5e cable.

I wonder if it's OK to use cat6/7 cables.

TIA!

    Hello dvz,

    Welcome to the community!

Cat6 and Cat7 are backwards compatible with devices using Cat5 Cat5e cables so they should work fine. The only difference on these new types of cables are the added restrictions (for crosstalk on Cat7) and higher performance since it has noise reduction on networks. As long as the ports follow the gigabit standard I believe it should work fine.
