I realize this is a top of the line switch and not expected to be quiet or low power draw, however the only information I can find in the PDF spec sheet are the maximums (ie: max power draw w all ports in use = ~394 watts, maximum ambient noise at 77 Fahrenheit = ~ 67 decibels) My question is (even if a rough estimation), what is the idle power draw as well as the ambient noise level for a netgear M4500-48XF8C (assume 4x optics or even no optics, installed) - I'm just trying to get some rough idea. The PDF specs do say there is some kind of fan user fan control, as well as the noise level is reduced when both power supplies are connected to mains voltage (but no details beyond that are given). thanksSolved1.1KViews0likes3CommentsAbout CLI syntax
Hi, I need supply some GSM4352PA Switches to my customer and since they are also configurable via CLI, the customer's IT manager asks me if the syntax used is the same as that of CISCO. I contacted the NETGEAR support and was told that they are "CISCO LIKE"; however, despite my insistence, I could not understand if LIKE means "SIMILAR" or "EQUAL." There is a big difference!!! Thanks to those who can give me some clarification.. Best RegardsSolved1KViews0likes2CommentsShould people be held morally responsible for their actions when influenced by external factors
Ethical responsibility depends on the extent to which individuals can exercise moral agency. While upbringing and mental health can influence behavior, ethical assessments should consider whether the individual had the capacity to make choices, understand consequences, and act accordingly. Society should also strive to provide support and rehabilitative measures where appropriate.423Views0likes0CommentsManaged switch - prohibit the connection of certain IP addresses to other IP addresses
Hi all ! I was wondering, with managed switches, if we are able to specify which IP adress should be allowed to connect to another. For example : 192.168.1.xxx is only allowed to be reached by *192.168.1.yyy* If I can do this using MAC adresses, it would be even more interesting. Thanks !Solved1.3KViews0likes3CommentsPOE++ switch with MAC filtering
I am working with a client to install an outdoor camera system. One of the possible security issues is if the camera were removed, it's ethernet connection could be used to gain access to the network. As such, using a cheap managed POE switch with MAC filtering capability would be the ideal solution. I was thinking of the MS108EUP, since it is a power injector that identifies as a switch, but nothing in the manual mentions MAC filtering. What is the cheapest POE++ (for future power needs) switch that does MAC filtering.?915Views0likes2CommentsGS308EPP with passive PoE device?
I'm looking for a PoE switch to power a couple of devices in my home. I want to by the GS308EPP (123w) Netgear Switch. Now I'm dragged into the PoE rabbit hole and not sure about what's possible and what's not. One my devices is a UniFi Access Point AC Lite with these PoE specs: - Power Method Passive PoE (Pairs 4, 5+; 7, 8 Return) - Power Supply 24V, 0.5A Gigabit PoE Adapter* - Max. Power Consumption 6.5W Is this a compatible combination? Or will the GS308EPP blow up the device? Who can help?1.4KViews0likes1CommentGS310TP - Firmware Updates
Hi, Newbie on this board, first post, don't eat me. As the S350 Smart Switch GS310TP is really appealing to me, i am now looking into buying one to upgrade my home network. As soon i understood 802.1Q/VLAN, i want now to separate now everything and get rid of dumb switches. I was looking for the Firmware Source Codes here: https://kb.netgear.com/2649/NETGEAR-Open-Source-Code-for-Programmers-GPL Happily i found a section for the GS310TP and the GS308T. Unfortunately, only stuff like Busybox is in the download available, but missing other parts. I was looking after build instructions, toolchain, sourcecode so i could also build the firmware myself. Most of the other products listed on this page, include that parts for their related download. For example, the router i once owned, WNDR4300, for which the download is complete, including build instructions, toolchain, sourcecode,... Would it be possible to publish the missing parts for the GS308T/GS310TP as well? That would help me a lot. Hello, I'm an AV Integrator and am looking to use Netgear for this project. Here's what I'm thinking: The main switch will be a M4300-28G. This switch will have several NDI (not NDI-HX) devices (maybe 6) as well as a Dante connection to an audio console. There is a portable video desk that will have an M4200 switch. This switch is perfect since it offers POE+ and also has multi-gig ports for computers (if needed) and it will be 10G linked to the M4300. There's a portable audio desk that will have an M4100 switch. This audio desk just has a few ports for another Dante console. This would be 1G uplinked to the M4300. The only other devices on this switch would be a computer for management and/or Dante recording. I saw some older posts regarding some M4300 problems with Dante. Have these been resolved with a firmware update? Is the M4100 suitable for Dante audio? Just looking at spec sheets alone, I don't see any reasons why the above configuration won't work. Thanks!2.5KViews0likes2CommentsIT Network Solutions Guide - M4300 & M4500 Series Switches
Small and Medium-sized business (SMB) IT networking is an important facet to the sustainability and growth of a company. SMB IT consists of a hierarchy of multisystem solutions that builds the backbone of the data infrastructure. The many features available on NETGEAR managed switches can be overwhelming, but can be easily configured if the they are broken down into the relevant sections of the IT network. Those sections are: • Core • Top-of-Rack • Edge Network • Spine and Leaf Network This solution guide focuses on the topics that are considered key to a successful implementation rather than provide a complete description of every switch feature.
