Hi, yes stacking configuration is stored at a different place. Please find these how-to's, you can use the general command, or delete stacking configuration manually. Below is CLI, but obviously you can follow the manual method in the GUI as well.

HOW TO TOTALLY CLEAR STACK CONFIG FROM ONE SWITCH:
    - POWER DOWN THE SWITCH WE WANT TO REMOVE FROM THE STACK
    - DISCONNECT THE STACKING CABLES COMING TO AND/OR STARTING FROM THAT SWITCH
    - RESTART THIS SWITCH SEPARATE, IN STANDALONE MODE
    - LOG INTO THE CONSOLE
    - ISSUE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:

    User:admin
    Password:
    (M4300-8X8F) >en
    (M4300-8X8F) #config
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#switch 1 priority 1
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#exit
    (M4300-8X8F) #write memory
    (M4300-8X8F) #erase stack-config
-->it reboots. After reboot, the switch is standalone.

    Optional: Clear the configuration
    User:admin
    Password:
    (M4300-8X8F) >en
    (M4300-8X8F) #clear config
    (M4300-8X8F) #reload
Are you sure you want to reload the stack? (y/n) y

    MANUAL Method
Manually if switch 2 disconnected from the 3-switch stack:
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#stack
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config-stack)#no member 1
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config-stack)#no member 3
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config-stack)#stack-port 2/0/9 ethernet
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config-stack)#stack-port 2/0/10 ethernet
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config-stack)#exit
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#switch 2 renumber 1 but it requires reboot......
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#switch 1 priority 1
    (M4300-8X8F) (Config)#exit
    (M4300-8X8F) #write memory
    (M4300-8X8F) #reload

I hope this will help, please let us know how it goes!
