M4300 12x12f - NLB multicast settings
Hi,
I'm trying to configure our NLB:s to work fluently as they are configured with multicast as operational mode. We switched from HPE J9022a to the M4300:s because of the 10 gb/s speed. In our environment we have a Vsphere cluster of three servers running ESXI 6.5, they go to two Netgear switches with Vmotion on one VLAN with a dedicated NIC and then its a trunk which contains our NLB VLAN and a bunch of other VLANS. All networks are redundant and STP must be enabled on the Netgear switches.
The three NLB:s are running Windows Server 2016 and is configured as follows.
My problem is the config for the HPE switch was very simple and straightforward while the Netgear switch has so many possible configurations.
I tried to add the NLB hosts as Static MAC Addresses but received an error message where the switch stated that a MAC should look like 01:23:45:67:89:AB. I did this in the webinterface.
So what is the simplest way to configure the switches so they don't get flooded by multicast? MVR? ARP and MAC entries?
Please share your thoughts.
Regards
Oliver
