Certain ports on the front can be used for stacking. They have to be switched from a regular (ethernet) mode into a stacking mode which requires a reboot to make it apply the change. Typically it's the 10G ports on these models that can be configure for stack mode.
The reference on stacking is likely the Admin Guide for the M4300 series which you can find in the download section for each M4300 model. There is also KB entry about overall stacking with the M4300 series: https://kb.netgear.com/30332/M4300-Managed-Switch-Series-Stacking-Information
Physically they are not that need special cables (earlier Netgear switches did require this), but the configured operation mode is the defining thing.
