Unstacking M5300-52G-POE
Hello,
We currently have a stack of 3 switches (M5300-52G-POE+) , and I want to unstack the last one to use it standalone. We already tried powering it off and disconnecting the stack cable, and then do a manual factory reset, with no success, the unit does restart and displays # 1. But whenever we try to input the default password (that should be blank, according to the manual), we're not able to login.
We also tried the password "password" and "admin", with no success, we tried the password for the stack as well. As soon and we connect the switch to the stack, it gets up and running again.
Is there any step we're missing to get the switch out of the stack?

These are not the average consumer switches, much more Fully Managed Switches. Start here to re-gain admin access:
M5300: To recover admin password from boot menu
Unlesss I'm very wrong, the ID does always show a #1 on the front panel, even if these switches are not (and have never been) stack members.
Some ports might be configured for Stacking Mode, so this should be changed to generic mode switch port or the like. This often confuses inexperienced network admins
