Weird behaviour from GS724Tv4
Hello. I just arrived at your community with a small question and I hope you can help me. In our company we're using a few of the NETGEAR GS724T v4 switches and we don't use any specific managing...

Hi JohnRo,
thanks for your input. First about the fans - nope, this was no overheating issue. Actually all those switches were in completely different rooms with different temperature, this is why I'm 100% sure that temperature had nothing to do with the problem.
Secondly, there is usually more traffic on them than it was at the time when the problem occured (half the company is on holiday) so I assume that this wasn't the problem. Also because of the different locations of the switches, I excluded the possibility of a local network event.
I was talking with some friends about the issue and one thing came up. During the problem everything on the switches seemed normal (all LED's indicated normal function) except for one thing: the port we used for uplink. This port's LED's didn't indicate anything. So the question that we came up with is: was this a reaction to a specific network event? A lot of network devices send each other packets and requests and maybe something like this happened. Is there anything which makes a port on a Netgear switch "close" itself as a precautionary measure for example?
Also it has happened only once, but on all the switches of this model simultaneously.
Thanks!

Hi DaneA,
thanks for your reply. Due to some unforseen circumstances I can't check right now the firmware version but I will do this in the beginning of next week and will post it back here.
Best regards,

Hi DaneA,
sorry for the delay in my reply. As for the problem - it hasn't appeared again which is good.
Here is the info on the firmware. The interesting thing there is that when I checked it turned out that the two devices have different software versions:
Boot Version B1.0.0.4
Software Version 6.3.1.11
Boot Version B1.0.0.4
Software Version 6.3.1.4
I would appreciate any further help very much.
Thank you!
