All right, my first guess was wrong - this looks like an initial or very early GS105Ev2" switch 8-)
From how I read the initial firmware 1.2.0.5 had no Web UI - it was added with GS105Ev2 Firmware Version 1.3.0.1 :
===New Features & Enhancements:
- Supports Web GUI management.
Using the Download Link below, download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop. The filename after extracting is GS105Ev2_V1.3.0.1.bin
===Looks li it's time to make the **** utiltiy workable on your Windows 10 system.

> Does your switch show a Netgear branded and designed login form (probably not), or a browser side basic auth pop-up (probably not), or does it come up with a either an empty page (most likely)?
It shows nothing as it prompts for authentication first.
> Does the Netgear Switch Discovery Tool show a firmware version like v5.4.0.3?
No, the reported FW is 1.2.0.5
I've attached some photos in a previous post, but although netgear web site accepted them and reported no error, they never show up in this thread (maybe it's a fake OEM Netgear support site ? :-))
> What is the complete model designation of your GS105Ev2?
I'm not sure where I can find this information, and it seems I'm not authorized to post a picture (I will try again)
The sticker on the back reports:
NETGEAR
ProSafe (c) Plus Switch
5 Gigagit ports GS105Ev2
(FCC/CE, etc logos)
MSIP-REM-NGR-GS105Ev2
DEFAULT ACCCESS
password: password
MAC: 200CC841A1239
Serial: 3MX1435ED00470
Made in China 272-12044-01
The PCB as a silk white marking: 2976453602
and a couple of sticker. One with the MAC address as a datamatrix (same as on the back sticker)
The other sticker contains a barcode with
RM14095085640957
5508011305 REV:0
On the bottom side of the PCB, there are additional silk white markings:
SH1 94V-0
E248779
135101
> Here is my guess following the second morning coffee: The switch as you bought it is _not_ a Netgear version as sold and marketed with the GS105Ev2 designation - it's coming from some batches intended for an OEM, and has no Web UI (and probably other restrictions) and might be labeled as GS105E-2A1NAS.
> There are the official model/packaging versions available.
I have not kept the packaging (as it used to work).
It comes with a EU power dc adapter, which has its own Netgear sticker BTW.
> It's possible to change the firmware to the standard Netgear one using the (almost obsolete, but OK for this purpose) Netgear ProSafe Plus Configuration Utility (available for Windows only I'm afraid).
I'll try to re-download it, but for some reason it refuses to execute on my Windows 10 /x64...

- eblotDec 20, 2020AspirantIndeed the horrible Windows 10 only application was the only way to go.
Netgear is now on my black list. A manageable switch that requires Windows 10 to be administrated is not an acceptable solution.
Thanks a lot for your help anyway !! - schumakuDec 20, 2020Guru - Experienced User

It's just work-around for a batch of a single model which has left the factory with a not Web-ready firmware why ever. Just aware of another model where the utility is required to add additional features along with a firmware update. Ways off from being a general show stopper...
What concerns me is that the utility is no longer maintained, does require an outdated low level network access driver, and last but not least is using a program librry which is declared EoL by the end of 2020. YeZ your action is required.
