Device is already registered.

We recently purchased a used GS728TPv2 switch and now need to configure VLANs on it. But it insists on having a Netgear online account in order to manage the switch, and when we register an account, ...

    Thanks for your reply.

     

    I don't need the cloud/remote management nor the warranty as it's a used product. I just need to be able to setup VLANs on the switch using the local web management, which I'm not able to do since the local web management interface is completely nerfed if the switch is not linked to the original registered account.

     

    It's been mentioned in other forums that only NETGEAR support can help with this but is there any other way of resolving this? If not, this switch will just have to go to the dump, which is a shame as this sort of tactics that NETGEAR employs to "force" users to register in order to unlock basic configuration features will just contribute to the amount of tech waste instead of being re-used.

     

    It's also ironic that the switch is marketed as their "Smart Manage Pro" range when it can't actually be managed without a cloud account, unlike previous versions of their switches.
