Disabling port does not disable PoE port

I have a GS108PEv3 and the disable port feature leaves the PoE port powered on -- the port is not disabled.

  • Disable port does disable the L2 communication, not necessarily the PoE. The complete IEEE PoE standards don't require an active Ethernet PHY link.

Newer Netgear Plus and Smart Managed Pro optionally allow to retain the PoE even over reboot or (I tend to say most) firmware upgrades. PoE control is typically dedicated and not linked to the port up/down.

Have not spotted such a dedicated PoE control in the docs. Not sure the PoE controller in place is manageable on this model btw.
