E switch range... does it support private / isolated ports?

Hey Guys,

I purchased a GS308E and GS116Ev2 and would like to confirm is they have:

protected ports / isolation / private VLAN's?

It was a bit confusing in the product description when the used Port VLAN's...

Thanks.

  • No PVLAN (Private VLAN) at all can be configured and operated on the Plus aka. "E" switches.

    No fancy PVLAN implementation means no: Promiscuous Port, no Isolated Ports, and no Community Port.

    Similar, no PVLAN VLAN types, like Primary VLAN, no Isolated VLAN, and no Community VLAN.

    These are just plan basic 802.1q capable switches, nothing fancy.

    Not sure what should be confusing on the Data Sheets and in the Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switches User Manual for example - there is no word of PVLAN and the likes.

    Keep in mind all these Plus switches are on the functional level (and price segment!) of an unmanaged switch with select VLAN config possibilities.

    The same applies to all Netgear Smart Switches.

    If you need Private Port Groups and Private VLANs, you need to look into the managed switch models like the current M4250, M4300, and M4350 Series.
