Resetting did not work. I got the other switch to be recognized and decided to send the GS305E back. Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I appreciate the help.

What gateway are we talking of here? An ISP provided pure modem-like device, or is there a router and WiFi access built-in?
What IP addresses does Insight App discover from the two switches?
Yes, some NAT-router like device dealing with a local network LAN subnet, assigning IP addresses for more than a single computer is required.

The Insight App does - as well as the Netgear Switch Discovery Tool show the switches IP addresses. Similar, also your computer does have an indication of the IP address in use.
Unfortunately you have missed to tell us anything about your network, which is unknown to the Netgear community. Questions have not been answered. It would be very easy to help -if- people would provide what we had asked for. And even worse, some
badunlucky advise was given -without- any insight what might be wrong.I'm convinced, there is -nothing- wrong with both switches. At least, it's very unlikely and somewhere in the 0,00x% probability that the one of the switches is bad.
