GS308Ev4 Tagged traffic issue
Hi all. Let´s start with a 2025 best wishes.
I´m new to this type of switch and Vlans as a whole. Bare with me.
I think best is to describe my setup so that it can be visualized:
I have a Opnsense with vLan device=vlan01[VLAN30 tag=30] IP=10.10.30.1/24 connected to Port 1.
Have a Netgear GS308Ev4
Firmware Version V1.0.1.3
with Vlan30 Tag 30. IP=10.10.10.5/24.
Have a PC with 2nics. nic0 10.10.10.12/24 connected to Port 3 and nic1 10.10.30.100/24(vlan enabled with no tag capabilities) connected to port 5 on Netgear.
Port 3 member of default U (1*).
Port 5: Port 1 - T and Port 5 - U all others excluded PVID port 1 default port 5 vLan30 (Port 1 = 1*, 30, Por 5 = 1, 30*).
From my PC I can ping 10.10.30.1(opnsense) from my nic0 10.10.10.12 on port 3, but can not ping 10.10.30.1 with nic1 10.10.30.100 on port 5.
My nic1 is vlan enabled but with no tag capabilities but port 5 is U so it should not drop packet it should encapsulate it with tag30 and send to port 1
My opnsense router does not seem to be blocking (have an allow all rule). Cannot ping 10.10.30.100 but can 10.10.10.12.
I think I am not setting up port 5 correctly
Can anyone enlighten me please, thanks?

Hello Jcam1967
And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂
Seems the issue could be lying on the PVID, Please try to change the PVID to 30 on both ports and see if you will be able to ping 10.10.30.1.Now each subnet should have default gateway. But are you sure you have /24 for the subnet mask because you mentioned that you were able to ping 10.10.30.1(router) from 10.10.10.12/24. I assume your NICs are on static IP is this correct?
Have a lovely day,
Erwin

Hello Erwin, thanks for the reply.
You are correct. I'm using 10.10.10.0/24 and 10.10.30.0/24 as Class CWhen you say to change PVID to 30 on both ports, you mean P1&P5. I have tried that, but then I lose connectivity to my Lab LAN 10.10.10.0/24 that is connected to port 1. It makes sense... I think.
--------LAN--------10.10.10.1/24 Port 1 Port 2 ------------10.10.10.10/24 - GW 10.10.10.1/24 -Nic0
OPN Vnic0 Switch PC
-------Vlan30------10.10.30.1/24 Port 1 Port 5 ------------10.10.30.10/24 - GW 10.10.30.1/24 -Nic1
See screenshots .
Have a nice Day Erwin, thanks again

There is something basically wrong with our network and VLAN design:
You can't have Port #5 [U]ntagged associated to both VLAN 10 -and- VLAN 30
