gs316 sw & prosafe plus utility

GS316, GS316v2 (if it ever existed in your market), and the GS316v3 are all unmanaged switches, and can't be discovered, neither by the legacy ProSAFE Plus Utility, nor the Netgear's Insight App, nor by the modern, SSDP based NETGEAR Discovery Tool.

 

What model does your switch model show exactly please?

 

Where is the impression coming from, that your switch should be discoverable on your network by some "magic" tools?

 

Only the GS316EP - 16-Port PoE+ Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch (180W) with 1 SFP Port and the 

GS316EPP - 16-Port High-Power PoE+ Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch (231W) with 1 SFP Port  can be discovered - but unlikley by this legacy ProSAFE Plus Utility you had mentioned before.

 

Permitting, these switches have a valid IP configuration for your LAN and the same IP subnet, certainly by the  Netgear's Insight App, or by the modern, SSDP based NETGEAR Discovery Tool from a device configured and connected to the same IP subnet.

 

As of writing, all other GS316 model versions are unmanaged switches.
