I have used the utility many times before. Sometimes I have to run it twice to get results. Now it doesn't find anything. I can ping them all by IP, I can get into them via web and they are all passing traffic. I have another MAC scanning utility that finds them all by MAC address just fine. My Discovery tool version is 2.0.7.0 and I am running it as administrator. 5 port in Computer Room GS105EV2 8 Port in dining room GS108EV4 8 Port in Basement GS108EV4 5 Port in Living Room GS105EV2 8 Port in Bedroom 108EV4 Any assistance in why they no longer respond to the Discovery tool would be much appreciated. Thanks.Netgear GS316EP reports as GS108EV3 after factory reset
We have an unused Netgear GS316EP 16 port switch. During troubleshooting we were asked to factory reset the switch. After factory reset it reverted to it's default IP address. When you connect via web to the switch via it's default IP address, the switch now says it is a GS108Ev3 8 port switch. The configuration utility is completely different from before. I downloaded the newest firmware but have not yet tried to install. The installation of firmware is even very different between the different models and I was concerned that the incorrect firmware (wrong model) might brick the switch. How can we get our 16 port GS316EP back? (We need all 16 ports not just 8)How to find serial number via SNMP for FS726TP
Hi, How to find serial number via SNMP for Netgear switch (model: FS726TP) ? What MIB OID to read ? SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: FS726TP SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.4526.100.4.6 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.4526.11.11.1.0 = STRING: "V2.0.1_14" It does not support entity mib (1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1). Thanks in advance.GS748Tv5 - Update FW using Web interface, NOT Smart Control Center!
Ignoring the pain of discovering HOW to do a firmware update, I have just learned that the only reliable update method is using the Web UI File Manager... at least for my #GS748Tv5 that used to be running FW 6.3.1.16 - (I downloaded all needed software and files. Instructions don't mention you need to unzip the FW file so you have a *.stk to "download" into the switch.) (Instructions also don't mention that firmware is an "Archive" file from the switch's perspective(.) First, I used Smart Control Center (current version). It claimed to have correctly installed. But the FW I used is the current 6.3.1.43 -- while somehow what was actually put in place was 6.3.1.11 ?!! I then discovered the Web interface file manager. "Downloaded" the same file into image2 again. This time it is seen as 6.3.1.43 as it should 😉 (The help also doesn't mention: a manual reboot is required to get the FW change to go live...)GS108Tv3 SNMP OIDS
Hi Guys, I'm trying to add my Netgear Switch in my Zabbix Monitoring Portal through SNMP so I can monitor the traffic on specifics ports but can't for the love of god find anything about supported MIBs/OIDs for my switch (GS108Tv3) on how to do that. Are there standard OIDs that I can use or are these all device-specific? Any tips are much appreciated. I found supported MIBs under SNMP configuration of my switch but I'm still stuck getting the needed OIDs from these MIBs.GC110P: Insight keeps re-enabling port mirroring
To analyze an issue on my network I ran Wireshark on my PC and switched on port mirroring from a port to the port that PC is connected on. After that, I switched off port mirroring again. In the past weeks, my PC did not want to connect to the internet on multiple occasions, it turned out port mirroring was switched on again. Each time I disable it in the insight app (or on the insight web page) it automagically gets switched on again a bit later (sometimes after days) Is there anything I can do here because this is getting more than annoying? What I do find really disappointing: although this issue appears to be in the "insight app" I can't get support from Netgear, as my warranty on the router has expired .SolvedGS308e Admin page unreachable
I am having an issue where I can't access the Admin page for GS308e switch. I have ATT Fiber modem/router. I have the modem/router connected to the switch and multiple LAN connections off the switch. In my office, I have a Netgear nighthawk operating as a WAP. I cannot access through the Insight App nor the Switch Discovery Tool. I've tried resetting to default and I am still having same issues. I need help. Thanks,XS712Tv2 switch - L3 routing between two separate networks?
Hi, There are two different entities that however trust each other to a certain degree. Each entity has it's own LAN and switches and gateway and internet connection. I need to interconnect these nets via 10 Gb ethernet using existing switches, Netgear XS712v2 on "my" side and Mikrotik on the other one. The idea is that entities could use each other's services and do so using 10 Gb ethernet which matters a lot for them, because files are huge. There are already VLANs on "my" side, meaning that some devices are in a "default" VLAN from switch port perspective. Don't know much yet about the other side but it is safe to assume they have some VLANs as well. One possibility would be to create another VLAN and tag all participating ports and then add a separate interface on each device using tagged VLAN. It is doable because I'd guess the total number of devices is not huge, perhaps 10 or so. What I don't understand is how L3 routing works and if could I use that instead. Would L3 routing on switches somehow would make this task easier so that I don't have to add a VLAN tagged interface on each device? Also, can L3 routing as I see it on XS712v2 switch coexist with 802.1q tagged VLANs? Many thanks, shpokasMaking a Managed Network Switch assign IP Addresses within Local Network (No Internet)
Hi! I'm a Multicam Director looking to upgrade his video production services to use NDI off-sight. It's a great tool. NDI uses the local network, and with it I can send video and audio signals anywhere I want within the local network. DHCP assigns IP addresses to the devices, which in turn creates the local network. If there is no router however, you have to set a static IP address for each device, and that will create the LAN. I tested this with an unmanaged netgear switch, but the problem is that when I do want to connect that switch to a router/modem, DHCP takes over, assigns the IP addresses automatically, etc. And when I unplug the switch, there's no network-thus no IP address for my devices to talk to each other. Here's what I'm looking for, and sorry if I'm not clear, I'm still learning all of this: 1) When I'm offline/no internet, I want a network switch that will assign IP addresses, or have it's own IP addresses that it will assign to devices automatically when they connect to it, that way, all the devices will automatically talk to each other, thus allowing me to use NDI in the local network. This setup will save me from setting a Static IP addresses for all my devices every time. 2) When I want to connect to the internet via a router/modem, I can plug my switcher to the router/modem, and have DHCP take over, BUT when I want to be offline, I can switch back to the first option mentioned before this anytime. I read that you can give a Static IP address to a Switch, and from there, any device you connect to it will be assigned the IP address...is that true? The Network Switch that I'm looking at is the NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch (GS510TLP) My reason for this, is because in some show events, there is no internet, but we're still doing multicam and recording the output of the show in the computer. NDI allows me to reach my cameras via the local network, and since I'm not "streaming" to like youtube, I can record locally, but if the events has their own router, I can connect my switch to their network and use NDI on theirs. Thank you for reading, and I hope I was clear, looking forward to hear back from anyone soon, this is urgent. Best, KenI bought the Plus Switch-GS105E V2 so I could "see" both PC's, but ...
Subject (Include model number and brief summary) I bought the Plus Switch-GS105E V2 so I could "see" both PC's, but ... Q: How can I "see" what's on the (other) PC? Before the "SWITCH *": If I am on PC1, & plug in a USB HD, then I can "view" ALL the files on it {using File Explorer, eg,}, & then I can even run prgs. But I Can NOT "see" PC2 from PC1 What am I missing? Also, my son-in-law sez: that I shlda' NOT! bought the Plus, since the simpler one wlda just shown both.... My Equipment: Switch: GS105Ev2 — 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch / GS105E V2 PC1 {"Green"} runs Win10 Pro (etc.) PC2 {"NewEgg"} runs Win11 Pro J (OG Power User - think IBM 360 & Punch cards. But my network ["running"] experience is limited, EXCEPT! back in the 80's I ran PC Anywhere, etc, between 2 PCjr's etc etc. ) - PS: the "Network" icon only shows the NAMES, not the "stuff" (i.e., folders, if shown, are empty, & I have turned on "sharing" etc everytime it's requested ). I am NOT talking re: permit error msgs, but I am!! asking "How can I use File Explorer (etc.) ? " to "see" what's on all the drives {& PCs etc} that are plugged into the switch? & OF COURSE I have downloaded / installed / run configured all from the site: Firmware/Software Firmware Version 1.6.0.10 NETGEAR Switch Discovery Tool for Windows Version 1.2.103 ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility v2.7.81.6KViews0likes3Comments
