GS324TP S350 - Elevated Temperature, No FANS, Firmware 1.0.0.30

Just completed installation of the GS324TP, originally shipped with firmware 1.0.0.27 -- I updated the firmware on setup to 1.0.0.30 upon reading reviews of noisy fans of which this version was to address.

Well I can confirm firmware v1.0.0.30 definently address the fan speed.  A day or so into operations I logged into the System Information page of the switch's GUI and noticed the MAC temperature was sitting steady at ~52C (give or take), the operating state displayed "Warning" and both fans were noted as OFF.  I cannot locate any options to manually set fan speed on this switch.

I've since downgraded the firmware back to 1.0.0.27 and now the both fans are on listed as on @ 53% duty cycle.  I've also noted the MAC temp is now sitting at ~27C.

I've been trying to locate documentation on firmware 1.0.0.30 to understand at what temperature are the fans suppoed to be cycled on but cannot find any readily available answers. I would like to keep the firmware current but a 25 degree delta seems quite significant in my opinion especially if was causing the firmware to trigger warnings.

Looking to see if anyone has any insight. Perhaps this a bug or is this hardware tolerant of these higher operating temperatures despite the warning message?

    xavmt78,

    Welcome to the community! :)

Let's try this.  After you upgraded the GS324TP to firmware v1.0.0.30, perform a factory reset on the switch then reconfigure the settings from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware.  Then, check if the same problem will occur.

If the same problem will occur, kindly open a support ticket with the NETGEAR Support Team here as soon as possible for further investigation.

      Hi Dane,

Thank you for your response.  As suggested I've swapped back to v1.0.0.30 and without even reconfiguring anything other than NTP servers, I've let it sit for a couple hours and obseved the temp on the MAC has increased again and I'm now sitting at 60C, still with no fans.

I did notice there is a line item labeled Tempermature traps range: 0 to 90 degrees.  Would this be the range of acceptable temp gradients before the fans kick on in this firmware version? -- In either case I'm taking your advice and opening a supporting ticket to be on safe side.  I'll keep this thread posted in-case other are running into this.

        Did you get an answer?

I’m having the same issue. The fans stay off but a warning is logged because of high temps with the MAC sensor.
