gs724tv4 , need to find

Hi

Need some help to figure out whats causing this problem .

IVe got a unit connected via cable to the switch , that is going on/off all the time

ITs an alarm system that reports ip problem

Ive measured the cable and it reports no problem . so either unit or switch/router that is causing the problem

Could i see in the switch when a port goes offline/online to caught the problem ?

Or other ideas to hunt down the problem ?

    dunkens,

Mirroring the port that the the unit is connected on?

Yes, port mirroring would help.  On the GS724Tv4 switch, select the port that is going on/off all the time as the source ports.  Then, select one port as the destination port on the where a PC (installed with Wireshark) is directly connected to it. Run Wireshark and observe.  It would be best that Wireshark would be able to capture what happens in the source port.  The moment that the issue happens, stop Wireshark and save the packet capture.

Kindly read pages 245-246 of the GS724Tv4 user manual here on how to set up port mirroring.  You may download Wireshark on this link.  As reference, check this link I found online on how to use Wireshark.
