1) Is it not possible to get LAG to work across GS116Ev2 with another switch?
3) Is it an issue with compatability with TL-SG108E and if I replace it with a Netgear-based switch with Static LAG on (e.g. another GS116Ev2), then I will be able to pull >1 Gbps?
The GS116Ev2 complies with the IEEE 802.3ad standard (LAG). Hence, if the other switch (such as the TL-SG108E) also complies with the IEEE 802.3ad standard, then it should work.
Kindly check the LAG settings of the TL-SG108E. You may want to check the current firmware of both switches. If ever its not yet the latest version, I suggest you to update it. The latest GS116Ev2 firmware is v2.6.0.48 and you can download it here.
2) Is it an issue with the way GS116Ev2#1 is connected to Synology even though locally I can pull >1 Gbps?
If this doesn't won't work, I advise you to open a support ticket with NETGEAR Support here at anytime.
