Loss of speed from router thru GS308E Switch

Hi,

We are using Starlink which is delivering 200-300 mbps at the router. We are then connecting ethernet devices via two sets of switches in series as its a large house.

Even at the first switch we are down to 60 mbps and the second it halves again. All the cable is CAT 7 or better. Any thoughts on this problem? Do the switches somehow throttle the speed?

Its a real pain as live TV needs more than 40 mbps.

all the best

  • Are we talking of the first ethernet link connected to the Starlink sat using the newer available (about one yeas old) Starlink Ethernet Adapter?

Correct wiring permitting, the physical length of each Gigabit link (max 100 meters including patch cords) does not impact the switch link throughput of 1000 Mbit/sec (1 Gb/s). Same if cascading two switches using a max link length of 100 meters again.

Total throughput is limited by what the Starlink system does provide.
