Netgear GS108E Prosafe Webinterface not responding
Hi,
I´m trying to configure this switchtype. I have two of them in front of me, I factory resetted them. I am directly connected with my Lan Adapter to that switch. I can ping it. But when I try to access http://192.168.0.239 the browser never stops loading, it is not showing anything, I only see a blank site.
I already tried different browsers and another computer. It does not work at all with both of them.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for this issue?
Thanks!
Sebastian

Hello Sebastian, and welcome to the Netgear community!
Not at all an issue with these Switches. Please look again into the fine GS108Ev4 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch documentation . For many reasons, both the Installtion Guide or the User Manual.are referring first to the Netger switch Discovery Tool.
Like almost any device or applince with a LAN connection, these switches have a DHCP client on board. This will make the device fetching an IP config from your network DHCP server, typically your router.
Only, and -only- if there is no DCHP server on the network, the DHCP client will fall back to the default 192.168.0.239 IP address.
In case you don't believe into what the NSDT does show, login to your router, to locate the connected devices:
Convinced somehow selecting the device will show the effectively assigned LAN IP address, it's MAC address as a reference (conveniently ls printed on the product box and the devuce itself.
In case you really insist to operate the switch with only a direct connection to your PC -and- no DHCP active server connected, feel free to make your life difficult, and you have to go over a slightly steeper learning curve to bring in the need for some basic IP know-how for configuring your PC accordingly to that 192.168.0.x/24 network.
Keep in mind modern computers tend to use ZeroConfig, self-assigned IP addresses, and you must define a static IP address in that IP subnet. As I said: Don't make our life difficult!

Hi and thanks for this fast reply.
Actually I found out, that the switches I have, are not supporting Web based GUI. They can only be access by special tools. In this case (GS308E and GS308Ev2) I was not able to discover the switches using NSDT. I needed to use the old ProSafePlus Utility. With that tools I was able to manage the switches. But I never thought that I would need a special tool, with Netgear I was used to use a simple webinterface.
How can I now, which switches support web based access? Because the information provided in the following link are not correct:
The GS308E is listed, but actually not providing access via Web based GUI.
Thanks.
Edit:
Actually I could Upgrade the GS308Ev2 to the latest available version. After that it was at least discoverable with NSDT, but not managable.

Hi sero0815,
The GS308E does support Web UI. Since you are able to discover it via the old ProSafePlus Utility, I suggest to update it to the latest firmware. There are three firmware images, each supports a different language for the WEB GUI: English, German, and Japanese.

As for the GS308Ev2, what is its IP address? How about your computer's IP address?
