are you planning on using any of the managed functions?
I got one to play with for a while and then basically put it in "dumb" mode so it made my network management easier.

plemans Thanks for the response... I debated with myself whether I would or wouldn't, and part of me wants to play in order to see what can be done with it, but the user case I have in mind at the moment is to do with the connectivity between the Sky Q boxes in the house and how they are talking to each other, as I am randomly having issues with the connection between them... so I was curious to see whether any pf the basic management functions available on the 308E would help me in trying to identify whether there were any issues that could be identified between the 2 boxes.

To allow proper communication on the network, the data path between. The Sky Q TV boxes and the Sky router must be configured to support IGMP Multicast (IGMP Snooping). It's predictable unmanaged switches are not fit for this usage indeed. Troubles with zapping live TV are normal if not deploying unmanaged switches for TV box purpose.
