    To be sure, when the LoV mentions a "software utility", is it referring to Smart Control Center?

      No. Erasing the non-user modifiable storage will destroy the switch - it will no longer boot, the horse will be dead. This storage section does not contain any config or hidden data from the switch config or operations.

      It typically means Factory reset the switch. Software utility inside the GUI which is the Factory default setting. But I am pretty sure you can do that in the Smart Control utility as well but I think you might be checking on a different utility it's just the GUI or the SMC.
