Setting up IGMP snooping on S3300's VLAN1
Dear all,
I am facing an issue while setting up IGMP Snooping on my s3300 Network switch. It seems to be that switch support only the IGMP Version 1 & 2.
Is it right?
So I have set up Windows 10 computer to use IGMP V2.
However, my problem is that the IGMP Snooping table is empty and switch flood the traffice to all ports.
I have setup the switch according to this instruction.
https://support.biamp.com/Tesira/AVB/Configuring_IGMP_Snooping_on_the_Netgear_GS724Tv4
only one different is, that I have use VLAN 1 instead of 11 (in Figure 3 you see VLAN 11).
my setup is 2 Cameras 2 computers. Each cameras send packet to different multicast groups e.g 239.0.0.1 & 239.0.0.2
The computer 1 is in first multicast group and the 2ed PC is in 2ed group.
Can anyone give me any hint why the switch flood the traffic to all ports?
Hi,
The issue is like that the Guide is not entirely correct :)
For example: "Note: Query Mode is required only when working with multiple switches, but it can be safely enabled on a standalone switch." is not correct. You need a querier at all times, even if it is a standalone switch. Maybe you did not setup a querier?
Please try and follow these steps:
1. Enable IGMP snooping globally.
2. Enable IGMP snooping on the relevant VLAN (VLAN 1) under the "IGMP VLAN configuration".
3. Enable IGMP Querier globally.
4. Leave the global address at 0.0.0.0.
5. Set instead a Querier IP address per VLAN under the "Querier VLAN configuration". Set the "IP" to 1.1.1.1 for VLAN 1 (which you are using). The querier IP is only used for an election system, so 1.1.1.1 is fine here.
6. Make sure “Querier Election Participation Mode” is enabled in case you decide to add more switches.Hope that helps :)
