M4300 IGMP snooping

Hello,

i have problems with configuring IGMP Snooping on my Netgear M4300 switch.

Heres a link with pictures of my current configuration: https://imgur.com/a/N3UaYIK

All devices are in VLAN10. My Router is a Fritz!Box 6490 Cable (192.168.10.1).

VLAN10 Management IP is 192.168.10.250

Everytime i start my IPTV Streaming Server my AccessPoints reach 80-90% load even with this configuration.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I did wrong?

Thank you!

Regards

  • Hi All,

We have worked out the issue with Netgear Support. Turns out the Bonjour service is disrupting MDNS between the TX and RX.

Disabling the bonjour service fixed it.

  • Our multicast broke today after upgrading to firmware 12.0.7.7, downgrading to 12.0.4.9 resumed normal multicast functionality.

Also noticed the 'snoopTask' process was consuming 99% CPU on all versions higher than 12.0.4.9

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've reached out to the support and engineering team to investigate immediately.

      Could you provide the following:

      1) network topology including the router, IPTV

      2) go to the maintanence->export->HTTP file export, select 'techsupport file' and click the apply button.

      3) capture the packets on the port connected to the IPTV Streaming server.

      • I have opened case #40496719 with support regarding this issue. For those interested I have done a basic test of both firmware versions (12.0.4.9 & 12.0.7.7)

        1) boot switch using firmware to test

        2) erase startup-config

        3) reboot switch

        4) increase MTU on interfaces 1/0/1 & 1/0/2 where my multicast devices are attached

        5) check MFDB

On the 12.0.7.7 firmware my multicast receiver does not join the group. On 12.0.4.9 it does.
