GS105Ev2 IGMP snooping
Hi everyone,
I bought a few days ago a GS105Ev2 and I am facing with some troubles with IGMP snooping, here is the situation :
I have a PC which will send multicast video through the switch.
I have an other PC ,connected to the switch, which will receive the video.
I have activated IGMP snooping and choosen to block unknown multicast addresses.
This configuration seems to work at the start (I receive correctly the stream), but after a few seconds, the stream is blocked.
After some research I found that there is no IGMP Query on this switch and I suppose that, fatally, the switch block all communication without IGMP report from the PCs after a number of seconds, right ?
Do I need to connect an other switch / router with IGMP request ? Or their is a configuration for snooping without continuously checking IGMP report on the GS105Ev2 ?
Thank you for your response
Best regards,
Hi JohnCarloV,
I just solved my problem by creating a little application on one PC.
It appeared that there was no IGMP query generator on my network (only 2 PCs and the switch), and I had confirmation by NETGEAR support that the GS105e block multicast stream when it does no receive periodically IGMP report frames when snooping (according to IGMP standard).
So in order to avoid this, I made an app which send periodically IGMP report frame for the stream I want, it seems to work now.
It will certainly be better to send an IGMP query, and let the PC automatically send his report.

Hi glabousky,
I believe that you just purchased your GS105Ev2. It might be better if we can take advantage of the 90 days free support via phone and it even has a lifetime chat support. I suggest you to open a chat / case online on NETGEAR support and please let them know the problem that you were having.
