Hi, sorry for my poor english but i need help... I recently got a Livebox 7 from french operator Orange with a 10gb port. I've an old GS110EMX given by a frien a few years before. When i received de Livebox, i thought i could connect it to the livebox with one of his two 10Gb ports, so i've buy cat6a and cat7 and cat8 cables to try. But it's not working : when i plug the cable connected to the 10gb port of the livebox to the GS110EMX port 9 or 10, the switch restart and restart and restart again in a kind of bootloop. I've waited a few minutes but the bootloop continues. When i connect the same cable to a port between 1 to 8 it works perfectly but a speed of 1gb, others object like my two NAS and laptop station witch are connected works also perfectly... I've tried to connect the livebox directly to my PC on a 2,5 gb port it works also... As this switch is manageable should i modify a parameter to link it to my livebox ? Thanks for anyone who can help me...ProSAFE 24-Port Gigabit PoE+ Smart Switch with 4 SFP Ports (GS728TPPv2)
i got this for my security cam system and I'm trying to know what port will give it internet so i can set it up it in the link/act mode and can find it on the app or by the ip address. i tried plugging to thought the net gear router and the comcast on and the network switch I'm using now and cant get any connection to just set it up ProSAFE 24-Port Gigabit PoE+ Smart Switch with 4 SFP Ports (GS728TPPv2)Auto Voice VLAN setup
We are looking to isolate our VoIP traffic to its own VLAN. For a number of reasons, we'd like this to happen without needing to configure each phone. It looks like Netgear switches support this. Unfortunately, the documentation is scattered and in many cases outdated. I'm hoping some folks here can show me where we're going wrong. Goals: Voice VLAN = 88. Ports 1-44 set to untagged VLAN 1 and VLAN 88. Default to 1 unless MAC address prefix matches a VoIP device. Ports 45-46 are for router for Voice-VLAN and has no access to VLAN 1. Ports 47-48 are for router normal VLAN (1) and has no access to VLAN 88. Ports 49-52 are uplinks and should carry traffic for both VLANs. The phone should be able to operate in pass-through mode, and devices behind them should default to VLAN 1 as they normally would. Currently I am facing two issues: When I plug in a phone with matching MAC prefix, it is not being pushed to VLAN 88. I'm unable to outright disable Voice-VLAN (88) on ports 47-48. I'll add some screenshots of the current config in a follow-up post. Hopefully some kind network admin will take a look and be able to spot where I'm going wrong.349Views0likes11CommentsXS716T Mounting Brackets
Hello, I have just purchased a used XS716T (I know it is now discontinued - which I will take the risk for) and I plan to mount this to my data rack. Worst case scenario is that I have to purchase a rack shelf for it to sit on. The seller says this is a shelf (sit on) setup but pictures I have seen for this on web searches do show holes in the side, suggesting it is mountable BUT I know revisions and different versions occur and so: 1) Can anyone confirm if all variations of the XS716T is possible to mount? 2) Is there a product code to purchase the correct "ears" for this? The HW code: XS716T V1 Serial Number: 4KP6067P800C6 Just to add, I haven't yet received the product which is why I don't know the answer of the mounting holes, and whilst loads of pictures of the product, there are none of the side 😞 Thank you AndrewSolvedConnect 2 Prosafe GS748TPS over 150m
Hi, I'm trying to determine the best way to connect 2 Prosafe GS748TPS over a distance of around 150m or so. I've determined over some of the posts here already that I need to get a couple of AGM731F adapters and connect over the SFP port, but I'm not sure on which kind of cabling to use? Does anyone have any recommendations? Would OM3 be ok? Also, when connecting the two switches, will they automatically connect or with it need to be configured to extend the network? Will POE also still work on the second switch? Many thanks, Nick6.8KViews0likes25CommentsInsight - Unable to register product - already registered
I have a GS724Tv4 switch. I am unable to Register my Product in Insight as it keeps saying "Serial Number already Registered". My device is registered in by NetGear account. It does show up in Insight as "waiting for first connect". When I go to the setting for the device is says the "Device is not registered" . Have tried to reboot everythign on the network as well as reset the switch to factory settings. Reading other discussions, I see others have had the problem but not seeing a solution. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. MichaelVLAN Layer Requirements for Home/Work/Everything under the sun Network operation
Hi all, I need you brains and experience to set up separate VLAN's for better security i believe, too many gaps here atm. Last time i want to rebuild the Desktop this week. Seeking your advice. And I'm no expert in networking, so if something sounds ridiculous, let me know, i wont be offended. So, i want to delve into the world of VLANS for added security, free for all here atm. I would like 1x VLAN - For work laptop,1x for IOT Helium Miner as need to use as a node soon too, 1x for my desktop and laptop, mobile, 1x for Guests, 1x for smart devices like TV's and Foxtel boxes, PS4. and Media streaming devices, 1x for power meter monitors, humidity sensors, moisture sensors, 1x for the 4xWi-Fi CCTV cameras outside the granny flat within My granny flats SSID range, 1x for the Western Digital MyCloudEX2 Ultra NAS, 1x for Guests, 1x for the other 4 x WIFI CCTV cameras at the top end of property connected to TP-Link RE650 Access Point via CAT6 cable from here to house which are on a separate SSID. This is all currently held together by a Huawei B818-236 LTE Router which has a WAN Port and one WAN/LAN1 Port. I have the Helium minor a Sensecap M1 connected directly into the WAN/LAN1 port on the B818-236 as no ports available on GS108E-300AUS Switch atm. It has the WAN port from the Huawei B818-236 connecting into port 8, then the port 7 is connected to my Desktop atm, as its easier when the router goes to hell to direct log into the B818--236 as they are next to each other, unplug from switch to router to fix it after a factory reset basically. Port 6 goes into the WDMyCloudEX2Ultra NAS also located there on the tv cabinet, port 5 is cable running to the office where there is a unmanaged GS105v5 switch, ( i used to have my desktop plug into port 4 here, but now have the cable that runs into the house and plugs into the GS105E-200AUS , port 3 into the Foxtel IQ4, port 2 into the into Samsung TV Lounge room, Port 2 into TV Bedroom, Port 1 into PS4.......back to the Port 5 connecting the GS108E-300AUS to the unmanaged GS105v5 switch, Port 4 here goes to House into GS105E-200AUS, port 3 goes into Work Laptop on my desk when needed or the personal laptop when needed, port 3 goes into the Brother Laser Printer when needed. In the house the unmanaged GS105v5 switch, Port 4 connects to a GS105E-200AUS where port 2 connects to a TP-Link RE-650 wireless Access Point providing coverage to the 3 Wi-Fi Cameras 65meters from here on their secure SSID 2.4Ghz, and port 3 goes to mums Foxtel box as half my data is now used for days of our lives the bold and the beautiful, but that's cool, least i can do for the mum, since after 50 years the shows moved online, her TV , phone, Foxtel box also connect wirelessly to the RE650 AP. If you managed to understand all that, you're doing well. I need to secure all this, i was going to simply replace the unmanaged GS105v5 with another GS105E-200AUS managed switch and use VLAN Layer 2 setup. However, reading allot on the NET, and asking Ai allot i am confused if i need layer 3 VLAN capability, and need to buy a GS108T-300AUS layer 3 switch , which i would swap with the GS108E-300AUS switch, and use the GS108E-300AUS switch in place of the GS105v5 unmanaged switch,.....so we end up with antenna on roof to Huawei B818-236 on cable to Sense cap M1 Helium IOT Minor, the other to GS108T-300AUS layer 3 switch (probably plug the miner into this, and the desktop into the next switch down line to free a port) which plugs into the relocated GS108E-300AUS layer 2 switch at my desk, which feeds into the GS105E-200AUS layer 2 switch up in the house. All help, comments appreciated, and please point out any mistakes, its been ad hoc network slowly growing never planned for end state. Need proper secure end state now lol. Now i have not proofread this as its 3am need sleep been rebuilding desktop with fresh SSD and windows install, any malware is DEAD. Nothing is connected to the net other than this laptop atm. and will stay this way until i know what the hell i need to do this right, i have no experience in VLANS, understand the concept, YouTube helping. makes sense. Question: Do i need a layer 3 switch for all this to work, given all devices at the circus here. Look forward to some wise advice, Thank you all in advance, Much appreciated, I need sleep. Replacing a Netgear Managed GS110TP with a Netgear Unmanaged GS 308
Hi - I was trying to replace my home Apple Extreme router with an Eero Pro 6E, and was told by eero that managed switches dont work well with Eero (not really sure why). I noticed that I have a GS110TP switch in my network. Even though it appears that I don't use any of the managed features, I tried replacing the GS110TP with an unmanaged GS308. (keeping the router the same Apple Extreme). Weirdly, while all green link lights light up in the GS110TP, upon replacement with the GS308 only one (extreme left lit up). Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks!1.8KViews0likes6CommentsTwo Active Switches With Redundant Uplink
Hi, I am looking to connect both switches to my Firewalla each on port one. I am also looking to create a LAG between the two switches on the sfp ports. I am using the default vlan to assign ip addresses to the management port of the switches using dhcp. I also have a single vlan 20 for the remaining ports (also assigned via dhcp on different subnet from vlan 1) on the switches. My sfp lag between the two switches is a trunk for vlan 20. What I cannot figure out the correct STP (RSTP or MSTP) settings to prevent the switches from freaking out (rapid light blinking). The switches should know that all vlan 20 are routable without going through the firewalla and are acceptable via the connected LAG. Only the default vlan 1 should get routed via port 1 and any ip not on vlan 20. Also note that all of vlan 20 is on the same subnet. The firewalla also supports tree spanning which is turned on.
