WBC 502 Extend Wireless Network to support wireless camera

REQUIREMENT - To support wireless cameras on my WBC 502 Master (Barn)

I have:

  • Two WBC 502 set up.
    • One as Master (Barn) - located in my barn where the internet connection is
      • Connected to Internet
      • Acts as DHCP
      • POE Camera supported and works
      • WIFI is turned OFF
    • One as Satellite (House) - located in my house where all the activity takes place - work, games, security, print, etc.
      • Wired devices
      • WIreless devices
      • SimpliSafe installed
        • SimpliSafe Base Station is installed
  • RAX 80 routers are attached to each WBC 502
    • Router attached to Satellite (House) is set up as Access Point

The above setup works fine - well it did until I tried to add a Wireless Camera to SimpliSafe in the Master (Barn).

I can add the wireless camera to the Satellite (House) because the camera can "See" the SimpliSafe Base Station using the Satellite (House) Wifi network.

However when I go to the Master (Barn), turn on the WIFI, and try to install the wireless camera, it cannot find the SimpliSafe Base Station. The SimpliSafe Base Station is on the Satellite (House) WIFI network.

I believe what I need to do is EXTEND the Satellite (House) Wifi network to the Master (Barn).

How do I setup the WBC 502 and/or the RAX 80 routers to support an extended WIFI network?

Do I need to purchase / upgrade any Netgear to make this happen?

Appreciate any guidance - Thanks

    so a clarifying point.

You put the WBC in the barn is handling dhcp and that the router in the house is in access point mode.

What about the router in the barn? Is that in access point mode? or router mode?

Router in Master (Barn) is set up as a router.Internet is connected to this router.

It probably sounds a little silly to have the barn as the Master but to get an internet signal, we had to put a 20' tower on the barn. The house was not an option.

This has worked really well for years until I tried to add a wireless camera to the Barn.

When I did the install years ago, i tried making as few changes as possible.

I've ran into issues with broadcast internet a few times and haven't really found a good solution to it.

Are you using any dhcp on the WBC502? Thats key.
