Connecting two GS105 switches not receiving 1000M

Hi,

I have two GS105 switches, however when I connect the two I can never achieve the 1000M connection status, despite using a brand new CAT 8 cable.

Full set-up is;

Router to 1st GS105 Switch using CAT 6, recieves 1000Mbps fine

Cable to second GS105 Switch using CAT 8, only shows as 100Mbps

Connection to PC, shows 1000Mbps fine

Based on this, the link between the two switches is a bottleneck which I'd like to resolve. Any advice welcome!

    Assuming the switch ports are OK and you have tried multiple ones, as usual, if a link does only negotiate to Fast Ethernet speed (100 Mb/s) there is most likely a cabling issue where the additional cable pairs required for Gigabit are not properly working.

    Check the connection using the known working cable you have to the PC....

    More expensive CAT8 cables are not always better. these are much sturdier than the (for Gigabit) perfectly fine CAT5E, CAT6, or CAT6A ones. Because thee cables are heavier and sturdier, the forces and moments on the connectors are much higher.
