gs208v2 stops passing data within 60 seconds of resetting. started one day after installation
Hello Everyone,
I have a rather complex home network in need of expansion.
The GS208v2 was installed as a second non-managed switch and was working well for about a day or two and now connects to my ISP modem/router (Bell Homehub 300) for about thirty seconds and stops passing data.
All equipment downstream from the GS208v2 loses internet when this happens.
This occurs every time the switch is reset no matter which equipment is connected to it. The ISP modem/router port is transport via powerline and works reliably to any equipment without the gs208v2.
The first non-managed switch (CISCO) is connected to another port of the ISP modem/router and works reliably.
Downstream from the powerline was a netgear WN2500RPv2 (46Txxxxxxxxxx) that was configured as a switch and worked reliably as well.
The issue is I need more ports downstream from the powerline and don't understand why the GS208v2 stops working soon after reset.
The WN2500RPv2 was connected downstream from the GS208v2 and worked well until the GS208v2 started acting up.
All equipment in the network was reset many times and reconnected in sequence allowing time for the first switch to negotiate before connecting the GS208v2.
I currently have one machine connected directly to the powerline. If I connect the WN2500RPv2 to the powerline it works well too, only with four ports though.
Thanks in advance for reading and any and all help.
Regards, Joseph. VA3GOC

Welcome to the community! :)
Since the GS208 is an unmanaged switch, there are no settings that can be checked nor configured. I suggest you to open a support ticket with NETGEAR Support here at anytime for further assistance. A hardware check will be conducted to your GS208 and if its proven faulty, an RMA will be processed for as long as its within the hardware warranty.
