If you wanna see wired speeds from your ISP modem thru your router to end point devices thru a SWITCH with 2.5Gb speeds on the wire you'll need a 2.5Gb or higher LAN switch and also need to use CAT6A STP cabling to ensure your getting these high speeds well and accurately. CAT5E doesn't support 2.5Gb speeds. CAT6 UTP is recommended for most 1Gb speeds. I have NGs XS505M just in a couple of weeks ago. Working with my Orbi 9 series system.

Don’t mean to argue, but what I asked, was about a Netgear ad that claimed “they” could run fast speeds over old cable. Here are a couple pieces from their URLhttps://www.netgear.com/business/wired/switches/multi-gig/

I guess that possible however depending upon quality of older cable, it may or may not work well.
For the cost of upgrading to newer CAT6 or STP, it's well worth going with the best thats out there IMO.

The cost isn't a problem. The problem is that at 76 years old, with too many physical problems to list, I just can't do it anymore. There is NOBODY locally I can hire to do it, without holding a gun to their head, or having my police officer son, watch them. I was medically retired from AF Special Operations WAY back in '83, but could still do a lot. Now, getting out of bed is an accomplishment! LOL
All the tech companies have closed hereabouts. I ran the last computer store, and retired from it in 2002. Back then, I was so sick of computers and the morons that owned them (now I are one?), I said I was going to forget everything ABOUT Compukers, and it appears I did, 'cause I can't remember squat.
Obviously, I have what is known as CRS disease. Cain't Remember **bleep**! I know it cann't be part of getting old! Heck, I am 46 years older than I ever even planned on!
Thanks for your inputs!
