Netgear GS316P - Switch - unmanaged - 16 x 10/100/1000
Hello community friends, I’m looking for a 12-port switch for home use. Could you please let me know whether such a switch can be installed in a 12-inch rack, and what accessories I would need for that? It’s a simple question, but I’m sure you can help me out with it.
The background is: I’m searching for an affordable switch that supports PoE+.
If you know of another product I haven’t come across yet, feel free to mention it — I haven’t made a purchase yet.
Thanks

For 19" rack mount, there are not many 12 port switches available. Key reason are the cooling requirements under the sometimes harsh thermal conditions in a rack installation.
What comes into my mind (and what is listed in the Netgear switch selection, are only the
- GS316(P) - 24 GbE including 16 PoE ports
- GS516PP
- GS516UP
The GS116LP and GS116PP have screw holes for installing 19" "wings", but are for price competition (my guess) not supplied.
Some community members have already challenged Netgear Support, because of the GS110MX and GS110EMX (both no longer available) used to be shipped with these mount wings.
Nice 3rd party 19" mounts for such switches can easily reach the prices of the GS116.
Even for home usage, I suggest to look into faster Ethernet switches, since the recent WiFi tech does easily reach data rates of ~10 GbE (and ~20 Gb), and Internet ISP are quickly deploying fiber, too.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I have one more question regarding the GS116 model. Could you please let me know where I can get the mounting brackets or send me a link so that I can possibly order them? Thank you. This helped me a lot. Until next time.
