GS105E acting like an unmanaged switch

Hi all,

i just pulled out an old GS105E of my storage.

Unfortunatley it acts more like an unmanaged switch.

If I put in on my network and connect a computer it works without an issue.

But since I need to configure some VLANs I of course need to access the webinterface.

Currently it does not get a IP assigned from DHCP.

I am also unable to factory reset it since it is not reacting to the reset switch at all.

I took it apart and verified that the reset switch itself is working fine with a continuity test. What looks pretty suspicious is that there seems to be a part missing (C62) on the board next to the reset switch.

Can anyone confirm that there is a part missing and point out what exactly?

  • Thanks for your answer.

Actually I just realized that this is a GS105E v1 which does not have a webinterface at all.

The way to configure that device is using the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility.

Not sure if I will be happy with that on the long run but at least it is clear now.

  • Have you tried looking at the user manual to see what the default IP address is for this model switch? It should be a 192. something IP address that if you set a static IP address in same range, your PC and web browser should be able to get to it's web page.

Does the LEDS flash OFF then back ON after the reset button is pressed.

Looks like intentional design for a part but wasn't soldered in place for this model. Doesn't look broke off or anything.

Roger that. Crazy how some of these switch have web pages and some don't.
Glad you figured it out. Should be able to reset the switch thru that app too, if needed.

        Enjoy.
