New GS308 does not work consistently
I am struggling to get my new GS308 switch working. I move the cable from my Apple Extreme over to tehe GS308 (into the far left port), and then move the remaing cables. Some devices work, some don't...
Welcome to the community!
Given that the GS308 is an unmanaged switch, connecting it to your AirPort Extreme should work as intended (having more Ethernet ports for your network), where one of the 3 ports of the AirPort Extreme connects to any port of the GS308.
First thing you can try is to check if the Ethernet cables being used are working; if possible, try swapping them and see if it makes a difference.
Also, what devices work and don't work when the switch is involved?

I am now getting a good wi-fi signal, but my ethernet connection didn't improve with a new cable. I went into Microsoft help, and followed teh instructions to reset my network settings. After rebooting the PC...it worked! Now I just have to get teh HVAC wifi working, and I'm back in business. I think this fix will require the HVAC company to make a visit to my home.
