Can the config backup from a FVS336Gv2 (3.1.1-08) be safely loaded into another FVS336Gv2 (4.3.3-6)

Hello

I have a  FVS336Gv2 (3.1.1-08) and for troubleshooting purposes I would like to replace it with another FVS336Gv2 with different firmware (4.3.3-6).  Can the config backup from a FVS336Gv2 (3.1.1-08) be safely loaded into a FVS336Gv2 (4.3.3-6)?  Or do I have to reconfigure the FVS336Gv2 (4.3.3-6) from scratch.

Thanks.

  • Hi ted7,

It is not possible to restore the config backup from the FVS336Gv2 that is on firmware v3.1.1-08 to another FVS336Gv2 with firmware v4.3.3-6.  You will need to configure the FVS336Gv2 with firmware v4.3.3-6 from scratch.

Here is my suggestion.  Update the firmware of the FVS336Gv2 from v3.1.1-08 to the latest v4.3.3-6 then backup its config file.  Then, restore the config file to the other FVS336Gv2 taht is already on firmware v4.3.3-6.

Thanks.  So settings will not be erased when upgrading firmware on FVS336Gv2 from v3.1.1-08 to the latest v4.3.3-6? (under normal conditions)

        ted7,

Yes, the settings will not be erased when you upgrade the firmware from v3.1.1-08 to the latest v4.3.3-6.  I suggest you to upgrade the firmware in a ladderized manner.  The procedure would be, first, upgrade the firmware from v3.1.1-08 to v4.3.1-18.  Then, upgrade the firmware from v4.3.1-18 to v4.3.2-7 and so on until you finally upgrade to the latest v4.3.3-6.  Be reminded that it would be best to perform a factory reset on the FVS336Gv2 after upgrading the firmware to the latest version then reconfigure it from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware.

        Regards,
