DHCP Server Stops Working
I have 3 FVS318Ns at endpoints at various locations. They are usually very solid, needing a reboot maybe twice a year. Recently, one of them needed a reboot because the vpn tunnel would not come...
Only one unit did it. Firmware 4.0.1-67.
What is important to understand is that nothing in its configuration or fimware has ever changed. The problem just started out of the blue.

I think it would help if you will set up syslogs on the specific FVS318N wherein the DHCP issue has occured. Having syslogs would help as to what caused the DHCP issue to suddenly happen.
Also, you might want to consider to update the firmware of all 3 FVS318N to the latest version 4.3.3-6? Be reminded that its recommended to factory reset the firewall(s) after a successful firmware upgrade then reconfigure it from scratch.
Kindly observe the two other FVS318N on other sites if same issue will happen.

Would dhcp kernal dumps show up on the syslog? I highly doubt a syslog server would provide more detailed information than what was in the dhcp log. The log entries were clearly stating what configuration file was wrong and on what lines it was wrong.
In my opinion there is obviously something wrong with the hardware of the unit since no configuration or environmental changes have occurred. I suspect that there's some ram corruption happening from a failing piece of memory in the unit.
As far as upgrading firmwares--no thanks. The firmware versions ALL have bugs that can disable features depending on where the bug is in the firmware. If the firmware is not broken, I'm not going to try to fix it. And firmware is definitely not the issue since it's worked for over 2 years in its current configuration.
There have been no issues with the other units--one on the same firmware version as this one, and one on a different version.

Somehow, I agree on your opinion since its a possibility.
I understand that you see these firmware versions as feature sets. :) However, there are times that upgrading the firmware helps.

Upgrading the firmware can help in many situations when the other firmware version is at fault. But uncessarily upgrading has broken more things that its ever fixed in my experience.
So if you're of the same opinion that it is a hardware issue. What's the warrany procedure?
