Thanks for your responses. Just for your information I got it working in the end by replacing the BT Business Hub3 with an older BT 2700HGV router and setting this to bridge mode, there was also a setting in the half hidden screen home/mdc to disable the routing functionality.
This is what you want do and not DMZ if you want FULL capable of router function of FVS318n
