FVS318N drops signal every few days

I have been experiencing frequent internet connection problems (no access to internet, but can access modem and firewall). The Cox Business modem, FVS318N, and JGS524E are all new devices. Firmware for devices were updated to the newest releases. I have seen one post related to **** issue from a year ago. A few others said they were have the same problem and none of the mods and members had any solutions to the problem.

These errors appear in the log constantly now:

Tue Feb 10 10:31:26 2015(GMT-0500) [FVS318N][Kernel][KERNEL] ccmp_decap: Error: Big jump in pn number. TID=1, from 0 304a to 0 308b. Frame seq=0x580

Tue Feb 10 10:31:16 2015(GMT-0500) [FVS318N][Kernel][KERNEL] ccmp_decap: The MIC is OK. Still use this frame and update PN. 4

Tue Oct 14 18:31:56 2014(GMT-0500) [FVS318N][Kernel][KERNEL] HTB: quantum of class 11024 is big. Consider r2q change.

Tue Oct 14 18:31:56 2014(GMT-0500) [FVS318N][Kernel][KERNEL] HTB: quantum of class 10001 is big. Consider r2q change.

On another note, after power cycling everything and having the ISP flush and reset the modem the first errors show up with the date Tue Oct 14 when the system time (FVS318N) is current, Tuesday Feb 10. It shifted automatically.

Here is how it appears in the log:

  • can you ping public DNS when you lose the internet connection?
Do you have static or automatic IP from your ISP?
  • Hi BrentFabSuite,

Does the internet connection drops on both wired & wireless connection through the FVS318N?

Is the Cox Business modem a modem-only device or a modem-router combo?

Since you mentioned that all of your devices are new, have you tried to isolate the problem by connecting a PC directly to the Cox Business modem and check if the internet connection will not drop?
  • I would first run something like dslreports' smokeping on your internet connection. If this shows any packet loss, it may just be your isp.
