Hi olig,

Since your VoIP provider has suggested it then it means that it might help for the VoIP solution to function well. Try to follow the suggestion then observe what happens. If ever it doesn't help then you may just delete the rules then inform your VoIP provider about it.

a. How is everything connected? Kindly post a screenshot or image of your detailed network setup.

b. What is the current firmware of the FVS336Gv2?

c. Does your VoIP provider mentioned that you need to open ports for the new VoIP solution? If yes, what are the port numbers needed to be opened and to what IP addresses should it be opened?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The setup is very simple and straightforward: Internet signal coming through a modem/router to WAN1 of the Netgear FVS336G. From there LAN1 goes to a Smart Switch which leads to the different workstations and IP phones. IP address to the outside world is fix.
I’m afraid there hasn’t been an update for quite a while. Firmware – Version: 3.0.6-28
The VoIP provider initially gave me the following information:

IP range for communication WAN/LAN and LAN/WAN	Where do I configure this?
UDP Ports	Done
IP range for configuration LAN/WAN for http:// and http://	Where do I configure this?
TCP ports WAN to LAN and LAN to WAN	Where do I configure this?

Forgive my ignorance, but would these parameters set correctly already limit the SIP signals to only come from the provider, or do we need additional settings?

Hi olig,

I think you could configure the IP range on the Firewall LAN WAN rules. Kindly refer to the figure on page 230 of the FVS336Gv2 reference manual here. As you can observe, you can select IP Range on "Send to LAN Server."

  Sorry for not replying earlier, we had a long weekend due to a local holiday.
  I think I'm getting closer now and I can see where to set the IP range:
  
  However the provider is giving me 4 different IP ranges:
  212.55.abc.def- 212.55.uvw.xyz
  77.59.aaa.aaa-77.59.zzz.zzz
  62.2.bbb.bbb - 62.2.yyy.yyy
  62.12.ccc.ccc– 62.12.xxx.xxx
  How can I tell which is the relevant one?
  Or if all 4 are required, where do I set them?

    It is possible that your VoIP provider could help you determine which IP range is the relevant one.
    
    If ever all 4 IP ranges are required then I think you will need to create 4 firewall rules for each.
