FVS336GV3 - Speed & Duplex Setting
Internet connection is 50x50 dedicated fiber. WAN speed setting was set at AutoSense. All switches and PC NIC was set to auto negotiate. PC showed 1 gbps connection. Speedtest website would alw...

my router is FVS336Gv3, not FVS318N
So, here is setup #1:
ISP equipment set to 100mbps, full duplex
FVS336Gv3 router WAN port is 100mbps, full duplex
FVS336Gv3 router LAN port is auto negotiate<--not editable
GS748T switch port is Auto, Full Duplex
laptop NIC is auto negotiate
laptop NIC status displays 1gbps speed
website speedtest = 50x25
So, here is setup #2:
ISP equipment set to 100mbps, full duplex
FVS336Gv3 router WAN port is 100mbps, full duplex
FVS336Gv3 router LAN port is auto negotiate<--not editable
GS748T switch port is Auto, Full Duplex
laptop NIC is 100mbps, Full Duplex
laptop NIC status displays 100mbps speed
website speedtest = 50x50
As you can see, setup #2 gives desired WAN bandwidth, but LAN communication with local file servers, ect... will be "throttled" by the 100 mbps full duplex setting on the laptop NIC since all other hardware is gigiabit. This is what I'm trying to avoid. Any suggestions??

Hi pecker88,
I apologize for I have indicated the wrong VPN firewall. However, I have edited and corrected my recent response.
Kindly answer my questions below:
a. If you will disconnect the FVS336Gv3 then connect the laptop directly to the modem, are you able to get 50/50 internet connection?
b. Is the modem provided by your ISP a modem-only device or a combination of modem and router?

Yes, ISP sent a tech out yesterday and confirmed a 50x50 connection when the FVS336gv3 is eliminated
b. Is the modem provided by your ISP a modem-only device or a combination of modem and router?
We have a dedicated fiber connection that is DMARC'd at our server rack. There are at least 3 rack mounted ISP pieces of equipment, battery backup systems, ect... it takes up about 18U of rack space. The setup is a little more advanced then a simple home modem--router scenario. I know that the WAN connection when plugged into our router is a solid 50x50 connection that is hard-coded to 100mbps full duplex on the ISP eqipment. The ISP engineer, field tech and I had a conference call yesterday when they hard coded their equip.

Hi pecker88,
I think you should be able to get the 50x50 fiber connection via the Fiber device-FVS336Gv3-laptop. What is the current firmware version of the FVS336Gv3?
Also, were you able to try using other laptop or PC then check if you will get 50x50 connection through the FVS336Gv3 with the NIC set to auto negotiate or hard code to 1000Mbps?

FVS336Gv3 firmware is 4.3.3-6
I've tried 3 different Win7 PC's, all connected to the same switch and router.
When auto negotiation is set on any laptop NIC I get 50x25; every time.
When 1000 mbps full duplex is set on any laptop NIC I get 50x25; every time.
When 100 mbps full duplex is set on any laptop NIC I get 50x50; every time.
This issue is very repeatable.
All laptop NIC's were Intel, various models, all gigabit capable.
