I will try your second solution but is there a device that I can use to replace the fvs338 that will allow for the use of ipv6 nat rather than 2 levels of ipv4 on by the comcast device and the second by the netgear device. don't like havinig nat on nat.

Hi RichELMey,
I do not see that the FVS338 supports IPv6 as it is older. I would best guess that you are stuck using IPv4 only. If your behind devices will benefit more using IPv6, please consult your ISP for futher recommendation. Unfotunately, it appears that NETGEAR already announce the EoL for all firewall line, please see their site on this link:

I would still say that you can use IPv4 with your devices with the FVS338. If you want to consider updating to a better firewall asdly you option wouldbe to look at other manufacturer firewalls.
Please let me know your results with my second option.
