PR60X & RS700 Support for Access Control Lists [static dhcp list & Enable/Disable] (ACL)
PR60X Feature Need

I have a Netgear PR60X router. For about 13 years, I have been using a Cisco RV325g router. I used IP & Mac Binding on the RV325g to ensure only devices with Specific MAC addresses could attach to the router. I ALSO had whitelisting MAC addresses on the Access Points. They were old and died. So with the Netgear RS700 I purchased, I could create an access control list and enable/disable devices. HOWEVER, that is only when the RS700 is in ROUTER mode. Once it is placed into Access Point (AP) mode, it no longer has a working ACL. So I used to have a double Whitelist, and it worked great.
So, I would like the following features added.
1) I would like the PR60X to have an ACL that I can turn on/off, for the static DHCP list I created. Also, I should be able to control if individual devices are enabled/disabled.
2) I would like ACL to work on the RS700 in AP mode. Here I should be able to enable/disable individual devices.

Nice idea, however, not sure how easy this can be implemented.

Please keep in mind the RS700S (and it's RS300, RS500, RS600 siblings) are pure consumer products, Neger has sophisticated Business Wireless AP with sophistcated controls and ACL features like the
WBE750 Insight Managed WiFi 7 BE18400 Tri-band PoE 10G Access Point,
WBE758 Insight Managed WiFi 7 BE18400 Tri-band PoE 10G Access Point (same hardware, differs only in the license bundle).
Not sure (as not opertating recent consumer product for a while how usefule the router (==NAT) mode is for your usage, splitting the network in two or more network sections).

I understand that there are higher end business models that are AP only, that have the feature. In this day and age there are many people who have homes or live in apartment complexes, where they don't need Business & Enterprise level equipment. They usually have
• More features.
• Many of those advanced features are NOT needed in a home or apartment
• Many of those are also to complicated for a home or apartment user.
• Higher prices.
• Many times require annual licensing which continue to cost the consumer/Prosumer.
Being able to whitelist your equipment in your home or apartment seems like a necessary thing for security these days. Being able to have a friend who comes over frequently, and enable his access in the whitelist, and disable it when he leaves, seems reasonable for security in a home or apartment as well.
I think instead of telling me that simple features are only in business models to advanced for everyday users, you should put those simpler features like Access Control Lists into the products for the Home & Apartment users.
Also, the RS700 DOES have ACL, but ONLY in Router Mode. So you gave it the feature and then lobotomized it so it doesn't work in AP Mode. The feature is there. Just make it work in AP mode. That is more of a bug fix than a NEW feature request.
Then if we wish to talk about the PR60X, it is a Business unit, and should have the feature.
Please put the fixes and additions on the firmware upgrades list.

Somehow mistaken, I'm just yet another communty member, and nor representing Netgear here.
I've just drafted some lines of diffrentiation between the product lines. However, there are many more details in the fine print.
Netgear does -not- require any support contract for any of the Business products, all essential features are available with the product, while support for the Business products is free on the product life time.

Well, first line of security would be access - prohibit undesired access, physical or logical by Wi-Fi... long before introducting hard to understand and maintain MAC level security ... think about the fact that more and more systems are defaulting to random MAC addresses (Apple does misleadingly name this Private Wi-Fi Addressing), to often causing support questions, and questions here in the community. Saying differently: Consumers should not have to deal with this area. Thus Netger has minimized the usage of this, inlcuding VLANs eg. for guest networks ... another feature magically implemented on Netgear consumer routers and consumer Mesh, but known to cause a lot of questions by some customers.
Netgear does offer the powerful and user friendly Netgear Insight - admitted there is a very resonable low price tag after the first year (or after the fifth or sixth year on some product-license-bundles)

Look, I'm not willing to discuss consumer product features I can't influence or even control. All I say here is that trying to combine a resonable complex PR60X router with pure consumer routers in AP mode for many reasons. Thus my advise will be to go with the Netgear (Small) Busines products, instead of going into a system mix, especially for not technically experienced users.

Well, in router mode it makes sense and is user friendly, while much of the features don't make a lot of sense. Like to put the cart before the horse.
For another reason, I've asked if seggregating your network with a consumer router in router (== NAT) mode can't be really useful or customer friendly.
