Hello tstrike,
Good day!
I have checked your profile on your system and you already have a support ticket. I am adding the support number to this post. Upon checking, the device is still covered by the lifetime warranty and is valid for replacement. Please perform this reset procedure below:
NOTE: You will have to press the reset button (Factory Defaults) for a total of 90 seconds.
1. While the unit is on, push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
2. Continue holding the reset button and turn off the unit (by unplugging the power cable). Do this for another 30 seconds.
3. Turn on the unit (by plugging the power cable back) , continue holding the power button for 30 more seconds.
4. Let the router boot completely.
5. Access UI and test Ethernet and wireless connectivity.
Once you have performed this, and still has the same issue please contact support and refer to this forum link. You should get a replacement.
Hope this helps. I'll look forward to your response.
Thanks,
tstrike

After following the directions for a power reset, my router is now COMPLETELY unusable!!! It is stuck in a reboot loop continously!!!

More than likely it is bricked.
I don't recall if that unti has a serial port but if so it may be recoverable that way.

Hi tstrike,
I am sorry that did not work out, it appeared that the SRXN3205 has given up. Hopefully the replacement unit would be able to do the work that the SRXN3205 has done through the years.
I'll be happy to assist you if you need assistance with the installation of the replacement unit.
Thanks,

Thanks to excellent support from the NETGEAR support guys, I got an RMA.
That said, there is a trick I used to get the router marginally alive until I get get my RMA. I did a hard reset with a machine connected via ethernet (Centos or any Unix flavor).... This was a trick I read about and been able to do this to another Netgear router...
I let the machine continously ping the router whilst it was going through it's reboot circle. It rebooted 11 times in a continous circle and FINALLY responded to a ping! When that happened I logged into the router.
I think now I know where the problem is and will send the router back to Netgear because absolutely NO one has experienced this problem:
Enabling TKIP+AES encryption kills the router... Additionally the router starts overheating.... I have searched high and low to see if anyone experienced this problem. It seems to be a combination hardware and software issue.
For now.. the router is on WPA2 AES only and has had intermittment uptime... I hope to send the router out on Friday and live with a little router during our mainteance window with hopes of getting a fast return.
With that said, I can tell you all that NETGEAR above even Cisco, keeps their word about their lifetime gurantee and that to me is a mark of respect to us the customer who shell out our bucks for such a gurantee. Thank you NETGEAR support!
On another note: I am sad to see my SRNX 3205 go. It has been a trusted friend and a WORLD CLASS VPN router that has outclassed those of it's time and beyond. It has seen more places around the world that most router in the places I have lived including Norway. It has been the most reliable router I have ever had the pleasure of working with. No other router comes close to its hardiness or its ease of use. I mean nothing.
