Netgear WAX630 Official power supply

Hi,

I don't have a 802.3bt capable switch so as I understand it I'll need to use a power supply to get full performance from the Netgear WAX630.

Could someone confirm the model number of power supply for the UK?

From what I can tell it's netgear pav12v-100uks but this is still only 30w and the specsheet seems to suggest the AP needs to pull over 30w to operate at maximum capacity.

Alternatively would something like the ubiquiti 60w POE injector work? From what I can tell this product is non standard but will happily supply over 30w over ethernet.

Thanks

Not sure on the POE info but the matching power supply takes a 12vdc 3.5amp power supply.

so a roughly 42 watt supply.

From the part you posted, it look like s a12v, 1.5amp device. That wouldn't work.

You can use 3rd party power supplies, you just have to make sure they have the same volts and polarity. It can have more amps but not less or you'll have stability issues.

Thanks for your help, it looks like there is an official version of the AP that comes with a power supply, is there any way to source that particular one that you know of? Can't find anything on netgear official site.

I haven't found that netgear sells power supplies by themselves. We usually have to advise people to source 3rd party supplies.

Luckily, they're pretty common/easy to find because its a standard plug/polarity/voltage they use.

Not sure about the ubiquiti power supply as there isn't a model to see what specs it uses. From the manual, here's what  it needs:

If you do not use a power adapter, the LAN/PoE++ port requires 802.3bt (PoE++)
power but might also function with 802.3at (PoE+) power. We recommend that you
        use 802.3bt (PoE++) power

The official Netgear power supply for these devices is the PAV12V35. For Europe, the SKU is PAV12V35-100PES, for the North Americas and other 100-120VAC with the US power plugs, the SKU is PAV12V35-100NAS. Blunt theory, for the UK plug, it would be PAV12V35-100UKS - however I can't find it from here.

Of course, plenty of second source power supplies available with similar specs.

I would suggest to look for a true 802.3bt PoE (PoE++) injector coming with  UK power supply - much nicer than having power bricks near to the APs.

Beware! Most Ubiquity injectors are passive, non-standard-PoE, and using voltage depending on the intended usage - POE standard equipment won't negotiate power from passive equipment. You need to look-out for IEEE standard PoE devices for the majority of Netgear PoE devices, here 802.3bt.
